The passenger plane, flight number 658, is the first flight of the Boeing 737 MAX series since it was approved to fly back in Canada, so it has attracted much attention.
The passenger plane was scheduled to fly from Calgary, Canada, to Toronto, but just before take-off, a warning light was on.
“After the engine is ignited normally, the aircraft’s monitoring system undergoes a standard functional check showing a potential error that needs to be verified and reset,” said Lauren Steward, a spokesman for WestJet.
Because the process of finding the error took some time, the airline said that passengers could not be allowed to sit on the plane to complete the relevant inspection, so it decided to cancel Flight 658 and Flight 665 back, and provided another Boeing 787 to Toronto for the passengers within an hour.
WestJet said that they then inspected the Boeing 737 MAX and eliminated the relevant faults, and were now ready to let the passenger plane fly on the same flight on the 24th.
