Severe flooding situation in Karnataka, India, 97 villages flooded 36,000 people evacuated Karnataka, India, has been hit by floods in recent days.
Local officials said on the 19th that as the water level of the Pima River still exceeds the warning line, the flood situation is still increasing. At
present, 97 villages in the northern part of the state have been submerged
and more than 36,000 people have been safely evacuated.
Officials from the Karnataka National Natural Disaster Monitoring
Center (KSNDMC) said that 97 villages in the four northern regions were the hardest hi
and local residents have now been moved to safety.
The official said: “So far, we have evacuated 36,290 people and opened 174 temporary relief camps. 28,007 people will take refuge here.”
Indian media reported that the Indian Army and National Disaster Response
Force personnel are still continuing to evacuate personnel from the disaster area.
