According to the data of the National Earthquake Forecast Center of Argentina, at 23:46 on the 18th, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred in San Juan Province, western Asia.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the city of Mediagua, 57 kilometers southwest of San Juan, the capital of the province, with a focal depth of 8 kilometers.
The provinces of Mendoza, Córdoba, Turkmen, San Luis and the capital city of Buenos Aires have been clearly felt, as well as in many areas of neighboring Chile.
President Fernandez flew to the earthquake area on the afternoon of the 19th to learn about the local disaster, express his condolences to the affected people, and promised to help the local people rebuild their homes as soon as possible.
As of 8 a.m. Beijing time on the 20th, more than 50 aftershocks have occurred near the epicenter.
Some local houses have been damaged or collapsed, and a few people have been slightly injured and no one has died.
