Kyodo News Agency reported that Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said at a press conference on the 19th about the hosting of the Tokyo Olympic Games and Paralympic Games this summer that the COVID-19 vaccination situation is not a prerequisite for judging whether it can be held.
Kato said, “The exploration of comprehensive countermeasures is being promoted to achieve a safe and secure Olympic Games, even without vaccines.”
Regarding Hirofumi Shimomura, the president of the Liberal Democratic Party’s government investigation, that late March was a general node to judge whether it could be held, Kato only said, “as the government is advancing preparations to hold an inflicable Olympic Games.”
