Brazil: The number of temporary workers hired this year has increased significantly compared to last year
On November 2, local time, the latest data released by the Brazilian Temporary Worker Employment Association (Assertem) showed that despite the negative impact of Coronavirus, the number of temporary workers employed in 2020 increased significantly compared with 2019, an increase of 46%.
According to published data, from January to September 2020, the number of temporary workers employed in Brazil was 1,531,620, which was significantly higher than the level of the same period in 2019, which was 1,490,082. It is estimated that by the end of this year, the number of temporary workers will reach 1,900,783.
Marcos de Abreu, the president of the association, pointed out that the unpredictability of the future during the pandemic and the country’s entry into a state of public crisis are closely related to the apparent increase in the number of temporary workers this year.
In addition, the Brazilian government’s improvement of the temporary labor law is also one of the reasons for the increase in the number of related jobs.
