January 17th, local time, Brazil’s 2020 Higher Education Examination was held more than two months after being postponed, but the number of people actually took the examination on that day was less than half of the number of registered people, and the abandonment rate was as high as 51.5%, which was the highest rate of abandonment of college entrance examination in history.

This year, a total of 5.78 million people in Brazil registered for the national college entrance examination, and the actual number of people taking the examination on that day was 2.68 million.

Before the exam, more than 8,000 candidates were approved to take the make-up examination to be held next month due to COVID-19 symptoms.

Two cities in the current most affected state of the epidemic and neighboring Rondonia have also postponed the examination to February.

In addition, on the 17th, about 11 examination rooms across the country had more applicants than the actual number of seats in the examination room, and some candidates were refused admission to the examination room before the examination.

Previously, in order to meet the requirements of epidemic prevention, these examination rooms have reduced the number of seats to ensure seat spacing. Candidates who fail to enter the examination room are also required to take the make-up examination.

It is reported that previously, Brazil’s highest abandonment rate of college entrance examination was 37.7% in 2009 and the abandonment rate on the first day of college entrance examination in 2019 was 23%.
