Reuters on January 18 said that after two Russian diplomats were expelled from the Netherlands on espionage in December last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that two Dutch diplomats were expelled on an equal basis.
Two Russian diplomats are accused of spying on the Dutch high-tech sector.
The Russian Embassy in The Hague said at that time that the Netherlands had not presented evidence that Russian diplomats had acted illegally.
The decision was based on the principle of reciprocity, with two Dutch diplomats leaving Russia for two weeks, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday.
