January 15th local time, Facebook, a social media platform, announced that it would prohibit the creation of event pages related to Washington, D.C. and the Capitol location on the day of the presidential inauguration on January 20.
In the statement, Facebook said that the move was aimed at further preventing people from trying to use the platform’s services to incite violence.
Facebook is currently reviewing all event pages created on the platform and removing illegal activity pages related to the inauguration ceremony.
In addition, the Facebook platform said that additional restrictions would be imposed, such as preventing certain users who repeatedly violated the terms from creating live videos, creating active pages or becoming administrators of pages and groups.
