Bolivia’s Minister of Health diagnosed with COVID-19

January 15th local time, Bolivian Minister of Health Edgar Pozo said that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus and was currently being quarantined and treated at home in accordance with local health and epidemic prevention regulations.

Edgar Pozzo is reported to have developed symptoms of COVID-19 five days ago and was tested for the virus. He is currently in good health.

However, because he is over 70 years old and is a high-risk group, Edgar Pozo said he would carefully consider whether to continue to serve as Minister of Health of Bolivia.

Previously, three government cabinet members, Bolivia’s foreign minister, public affairs and defense minister, were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.

As of January 15th local time, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bolivia rose to 181,016, with a total of 9,530 deaths. The number of new confirmed cases in the country has continued to increase every day in the past two weeks.

Data released on the 14th showed that the number of new confirmed cases in the country in 48 hours was 1,065.
