January 14th – In January, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced in January that it recalled 11,371 Weis Markets’ ice cream packaging because they were “contamination by foreign substances, especially metal filling equipment parts”.
According to the New York Post, the recall was due to the discovery of strange substances in their dessert by an ice cream diner.
The FDA noted that “one customer found a complete metal device in Weiss’ biscuit and cream-flavored ice cream. There are concerns that the inclusion of such an extra substance in an ice cream product could create a risk of suffocation.”
The product is sold in 197 Weiss markets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and West Virginia.
The sales deadline for this product is October 29, 2020, and anyone who buys this product can get a full refund.
