At the end of November last year, Magidó Villera was elected the new mayor of Goiânia with 52.6% of the vote in the second round of the national municipal elections in Brazil.
However, on the day of his election, he was hospitalized at Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo and was in a coma because of his serious illness and did not know the election results. His son Danielle Villeira took on all the work in the campaign.
Magido Velera, 71, tested positive for COVID-19 on October 20, 2020, and was then transferred from a local hospital in Goiânia to Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo for hospitalization due to aggravated illness.
It is reported that after the death of Villera, his body will be transferred back to Goiás from the state of São Paulo by his family and buried in the city of Yatai, his birthplace.
