January 12th During the COVID-19 pandemic, the CEO of a hospital in London, Ontario, Canada, was fired for traveling to and from the United States many times.
According to the Canadian National Post, Dr. Paul Woods, CEO of the London Health Science Center in Ontario, has made five trips to the United States since the outbreak of the epidemic in March 2020, including the Christmas holiday in December.
Woods’ travel records were made public on January 8, when the hospital expressed support for Woods to continue his position.
However, the hospital issued a new statement on January 11 that the London Health Science Center immediately dismissed Woods due to concerns about the hospital and the community about his travel.
The hospital said that the board of directors of the London Health Science Center did not receive prior notice of Woods’ trip and did not approve his trip. Woods apologized for his family visit to the United States when his trip was made public on January 8.
On Woods’ latest trip to the United States, a hospital nearby was experiencing an outbreak. According to statistics, 23 people died and more than 150 patients and staff were infected.
