During the meeting between the two, Gates said about the coronavirus epidemic that hosting the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a major message to the world. Kan Yiwei responded, “This is a very important issue, so it must be held.”
Since the beginning of the New Year, Yoshihiro Kan has repeatedly stated that the Tokyo Olympic Games will be held as scheduled.
On January 7, Kan Yiwei said at a press conference that he would fully implement epidemic prevention measures to achieve a safe and secure Tokyo Olympic Games.
After today’s cabinet meeting, Seiko Hashimoto, Japan’s Olympic Minister, also stressed again that in order to hold a safe and assured Olympic Games without vaccines, Japan is studying a comprehensive response led by necessary inspection and operation management.
