January 12th , Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga held a telephone conference with Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates.
In addition to exchanging opinions on Coronavirus pandemic policy, Suga Yoshihide once again expressed his determination to host the Tokyo Olympics, saying that “it must be held.”
According to news from the Japan Jiji News Agency on the 12th, Bill Gates said that the hosting of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics is a major event for the world.
Yoshihide Suga responded that “it must be held.” The two sides also reached consensus on the importance of providing vaccines to developing countries.
Bill Gates expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its contribution to Coronavirus pandemic, saying that he looked forward to the Tokyo Olympics this summer (2021).
Since becoming Japanese Prime Minister in September 2020, Yoshihide Suga has made the same speech on many occasions. In the seven days since 2021, he has expressed his determination to hold the Olympic Games as scheduled on three different occasions.
The two were in the New Year’s speech on the 1st and the press conference of the Prime Minister’s Office on the 4th.
