Trump said he would remove Sudan from the list of “terrorist countries”
Washington, October 19 U.S. President Trump stated on the 19th that the United States will remove
Sudan from the list of countries supporting terrorism after receiving compensation from Sudan.
Trump said on social media that day that Sudan has agreed to pay 335 million U.S. dollars to the victims of terrorism in the United States and their families.
After receiving the funds, the United States will remove Sudan from the US State Department’s
list of “countries supporting terrorism” Removed.
U.S. media quoted U.S. officials on the same day and reported that after the U.S.
completes the removal of Sudan from the list of countries supporting terrorism
Sudan and Israel may normalize relations within a few days.
It is also reported that the Prime Minister of the Sudanese Transitional Government Hamduk
said earlier this month that Sudan’s seeking to remove the country from the US list of countries supporting terrorism is not the same as normalizing relations between Sudan and Israel.
The US government included Sudan in the list of “countries supporting terrorism” in 1993 and has imposed economic sanctions on Sudan since 1996.
In October 2017, the United States announced the lifting of economic sanctions
on Sudan, but it still included Sudan on the list of “countries supporting terrorism”. After the establishment of the
Sudan Transitional Government in 2019, it has been seeking to remove Sudan
from the list of “countries supporting terrorism” identified by the United States.
