January 11th – TheĀ Vatican media announced on Saturday (9th) that Fabrizio Soccorsi, a personal doctor of Pope Francis, died of complications from the novel coronavirus.
According to CNN, citing the newspaper Vatican media The Observer, Sokosi died at the age of 78. Pope Francis chose Sokosi as his personal physician in 2015.
Sokosi was hospitalized in Rome on 26 December 2020 with a previous oncology, according to the Italian newspaper Avvenire. It is not clear when Sokosi last came into direct contact with Pope Francis.
In an interview with the Italian Channel 5 program that aired Sunday (10th) evening, Pope Francis said that the Vatican will start the vaccination of the novel coronavirus next week, that is, this week. The Pope himself is preparing to be vaccinated.
