January 8th – A patient in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA, was confirmed to be infected with the mutant novel coronavirus.
The patient has traveled abroad.
According to NBC on the 7th, Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Rachel Levine pointed out in a statement that the first infected person showed only mild symptoms and is currently monitoring close contacts of the patient.
Officials will also urge people to continue to maintain social isolation, avoid concentration, and wash their hands frequently to prevent the further spread of the virus.
Colorado public health officials confirmed the first mutant COVID-19 case in the United States on the 5th, and the man carrying the virus has no travel history, followed by mutant COVID-19 cases in California, New York and Florida.
At present, researchers have found the new mutant virus in more than a dozen countries, including Japan, Canada and several European countries. At least eight states in the United States have already had cases of mutant coronavirus.
