Hungarian Prime Minister: The EU is “too slow” to purchase vaccines and is continuing negotiations with China and Russia.

According to the Russian satellite news agency on January 8, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban Victor said in an interview with Radio Kosut that the Hungarian authorities continue to negotiate with Russia, China and Israel on the procurement of coronavirus vaccines because the EU is too slow to purchase other vaccines.

The official website of the Hungarian government quoted Orbán as saying: “Unfortunately, the procurement of vaccines in the European Union is very slow, so Hungary continues to negotiate with Israel, Russia and China, because if we sit and wait, the complex situation we are now will continue.”

He added: “Only those things we are sure that we must do better at the EU level are worth giving Brussels authority.”
