Today (January 7), a spokesman for the International Exchange Bureau of China Central Radio and Television issued a statement calling on the United States to take the necessary measures to protect the safety of media journalists. The statement reads as follows:
Statement by a spokesman for the International Exchange Bureau of China Central Radio and Television
We were shocked to learn that on the afternoon of the 6th Washington time, many media, including CGTN America, were attacked by demonstrators at the common link point on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and the scene was in chaos.
Fortunately, all media reporters are safe and sound at present.
We express our condolences to the front-line journalists and maintain contact with CGTN America to take necessary safety precautions for front-line journalists.
At the same time, we call on the United States to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of media reporters.
