Contee said that supporters of President Trump stormed the Capitol on Wednesday to try to prevent Congress from confirming the victory of President-elect Biden, resulting in four deaths and 52 arrests.
Contee also said at a press conference held Wednesday evening that of the 52 arrested so far, 47 violated the curfew imposed by Mayor Muriel Bowser, 26 were arrested at the U.S. Capitol, and several others were arrested for carrying unlicensed or prohibited firearms.
Arrested on charges.
Contee also said that two bombs were also found at the headquarters of the Republican Party and the Democratic National Committee, and a refrigerator containing incendiary bombs was found in a car in the Capitol.
Contee added that 14 police officers were injured, two of whom were still in hospital.
