According to local media reports on January 6, Eleonora Negulova, president of the Bulgarian Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, said in an interview that 75% of small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria are currently unable to repay bank loans due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said that since the outbreak of the pandemic in Bulgaria last March, most small and medium-sized enterprises have been struggling.
Although they have production and service facilities and sufficient human resources, they lack start-up funds for the resumption of work and production.
Many small and medium-sized enterprises are hovering on the brink of bankruptcy. Only 15% of SMEs have the opportunity to turn the crisis into business opportunities.
The business of these enterprises mainly focuses on online services, retail, express delivery and digital services.
