January 6 Chuck Stacey, a Florida man, did not wear a mask before he was diagnosed with COVID-19. Now he begged others not to follow his example.
“I have claustrophobic and it’s too hard to wear a mask,” Stacey told Business Insider. I want to wear a mask, but I will panic. Stacey, 50, began hospitalization last week.
His friend Daniel Uhlfelder said that Stacy had supported not wearing a mask and was not sure what it meant to take off. December 26, 2020 Stacey starts to feel sore and tired.
The next day, he was tested for the novel coronavirus and tested positive. A few days later, Stacy had to lie on the hospital bed.
“At first I believed it was just flu, everything would go away, wearing a mask was political, I don’t think wearing a mask would help,” Stacey said in a video recorded in the hospital bed on the morning of the 4th.
But now he is crying and begs the people to wear masks. “Don’t be like me. I can’t breathe. If it gets worse, I may have to intubate treatment.” Stacey’s wife also tested positive, but is recovering at home.
Stacey said in the video: “If wearing a mask can reduce the chance of infection by 5%, wear a mask. For the children, for the sake of relatives, for yourself, please wear a mask.
Florida has reported nearly 94,000 new confirmed cases in the last seven days. Florida is one of 12 states in the U.S. that don’t have statewide lockdown requirements, according to AARP.
Florida Gov. DeSantis also banned local governments from imposing mandatory mask orders or lockdown measures on their own.
For now, restaurants in Florida can still be open at full capacity; clubs and bars remain open. In the last month, even many clubs and bars held crowded parties without masks.
