According to local media reports, Namibia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Agrarian Reform issued an announcement that a case of foot-and-mouth disease had been found in Oshikoto Province a few days ago.
Since the outbreak was first detected late last year, five northern provinces, including Oshikoto, Ohangüina, Osana, Omsati, and Kunene, have been declared as foot-and-mouth disease control areas, prohibiting the transit of live ungulates and their products in these areas.
At present, the Namibian Ministry of Agriculture has strengthened the monitoring of the region.
