According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Canada on January 5, according to the announcement of relevant Canadian authorities, from January 7, all passengers aged 5 and above must have a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test (PCR) report sampled within 72 hours before departure to board the plane.
Please be sure to contact the airline in advance to confirm the relevant matters. The above passengers must also fill in the personal isolation plan and relevant information through the ArriviveCAN APP or website for review by Canadian border inspection officials.
After entering the country, they must still complete 14 days of mandatory home isolation. If the Canadian border inspection officials are not satisfied with the isolation plan, the personnel concerned will be required to be quarantined in the designated place.
Violations of the relevant epidemic prevention regulations will be sentenced to up to six months’ imprisonment or/and a fine of $750,000. Specific requirements can be found on the official website of the Canadian federal government: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions.
In addition, very few people who went to China recently did not pay attention to strengthening personal epidemic prevention after testing, resulting in infection with COVID-19 on the way out of departure and were diagnosed after taking a flight to China.
In view of the above, the embassy and consulate in Canada once again reminds:
First, strictly abide by the epidemic prevention regulations. Pay close attention to the latest epidemic situation and epidemic prevention regulations in Canada, strictly abide by relevant local regulations, and take the initiative to do a good job in epidemic prevention and control.
In particular, minimize unnecessary travel and avoid participating in gathering activities as much as possible.
II. Avoid traveling. Adhere to the principle of “non-essential, non-emergency, no travel” and try to avoid long-distance or cross-border travel.
III. Pay attention to the protection outside. If you really need to return to China or Canada, please try your best to choose a direct flight and quarantine at home after receiving “double testing”, and do not go out as much as possible.
If you really need to go out, please be sure to strengthen personal epidemic prevention measures and maintain social distance with others. If you have suspected symptoms before boarding the plane, please cancel the trip and test and see a doctor in time.
