December 31, 2020, French President Macron said in his New Year’s message that 2020 has been a difficult year, especially unfair to the most vulnerable groups.
In 2021, France will still face multiple crises, including health, economy, society, terrorism and climate change, which will not disappear with the arrival of January 1, 2021. Macron said that the early months of 2021 will still be difficult, and the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on French national life will continue until at least the spring of 2021.
Macron also mentioned Brexit in his congratulatory speech, saying that although Britain became the first country to choose to leave the EU, it was still a neighbor, friend and ally of the EU.
However, Macron believes that the EU is still France’s future, and France’s sovereignty needs to be based on a stronger, autonomous and more united EU.
