Cairo, December 31 two truck collision occurred on the highway connecting Aswan and Esyout Province in southern Egypt, killing at least 12 people.
Aswan Governor Ashraf Saad told Xinhua News Agency that a truck from Aswan collided with a truck from Esyoute Province, both of which carried illegal gold mining workers.
Gas tanks used to excavate gold mines also exploded after vehicle collisions. After the incident, a total of ten ambulances rushed to the scene.
Saad said that drivers’ high-speed driving and road surface damage were the main causes of the accident.
Relevant departments have temporarily repaired, added signs and speed bumps on the highway to prevent the recurrence of accidents.
The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity has decided to provide emergency assistance to the families of victims.
