December 28th – More than 350 British tourists should have quarantined themselves in Swiss hotels. However, they left the quarantined hotels in Switzerland without authorization on Sunday (27th). Some people were missing, while others reappeared in neighboring France.
According to German media on the 27th, a spokesman for the Swiss government of Banjes said that Switzerland has identified 420 tourists from the United Kingdom and has been quarantined before Christmas.
Of these, 50 fled immediately after receiving orders, and the remaining 370, “many of them stayed in the quarantine area for a day and then left under the cover of the night”, and only a dozen people are still in the room. On the afternoon of the 27th, the hotel where the missing passengers stayed informed the Banjes government that no one answered the phone from their room and that the breakfast outside the door remained unchanged.
A spokesman for the Banez government said that he understood the anger of quarantine after passengers entering the country, and he also criticized the federal government’s control measures for being too hasty.
The spokesman pointed out that it is really intolerable that families with children suddenly have to crowd into a room of only 20 square meters.
Verbier is reported to be a high mountain village in Bagnes, Canton Valais, and is a popular ski resort for British tourists.
In response to the variant of COVID-19, Switzerland banned British and South African flights from arriving on December 20.
One day later, the Swiss government ordered the retroactive isolation of all people who arrived from December 14 and 10 days from the date of arrival; violators will be fined 10,000 Swiss francs ($11k).
