Russian Satellite News Agency on December 25th, the Antimonopoly Agency of the Russian Federation announced that it has agreed to Rostelecom
Russian Mobile Communication Systems (MTS), Viper Communications (Beeline brand) and MegaFon Company’s application for forming a 5G joint venture.
Sources pointed out that on December 21, the Federal Antimonopoly Administration considered the application for preliminary agreement for mobile communication operators to sign an agreement to jointly build a 5G standard network in the
Russian Federation, and agreed to the transaction under the condition that the provisions guarantee the competitiveness of the communication service market are implemented.
In particular, companies involved in the transaction should formulate the conditions for communication operators to use infrastructure and/or share the use of radio frequencies, to provide infrastructure to mobile virtual operators (MVNOs) and consult with the Federal Antimonopoly Administration.
