December 25th – TheĀ Trump campaign recently filed another complaint with the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the Pennsylvania election results. A Supreme Court judge said that the decision of the lawsuit was set for January 22.
Supreme Court justices will not take any action against the latest appeal from the Trump team until the inauguration, according to Fox News.
The judges announced this week that the ruling date will be set for January 22. That means Biden was sworn in when the Supreme Court ruled on the lawsuit.
According to the report, the Supreme Court could directly refuse to hear the case, saying that it was meaningless for them to solve the case. The U.S. Congress will convene on January 6, 2021 to count the electoral college votes and confirm the next president.
The inaugural committee of the U.S. president has previously announced that Biden and Harris will be sworn in on January 20, 2021.
The Trump campaign filed a lawsuit on the 20th to try to overturn three earlier Pennsylvania Supreme Court decisions that relaxed election rules on signature verification, election day observation and mail-in ballot filing.
The Trump campaign claimed that these Pennsylvania rulings were “unconstitutional” and asked the Supreme Court to rule by January 6. On the 24th local time, the Trump campaign did not reply to reporters’ requests for comment.
The report said that this is another new attempt by the Trump team to challenge the election results. According to previous reports, on December 8th local time, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit about the results of the Pennsylvania general election count.
The lawsuit was initiated by Republican Congressman Mike Kelly, accusing Pennsylvania’s mail-in voting against the state’s constitution and demanding that more than 2.5 million mail-in votes be invalidated in the state.
According to U.S. media, at least 86 judges have dismissed the lawsuit since the Trump team and his supporters began to challenge the election results.
