New Delhi, December 24 India successfully tested an army version of an intermediate-range surface-to-air ballistic missile for the first time on the 23rd.
The Indian Defense Research and Development Organization issued a statement on the evening of the 23rd that the launch was carried out at the comprehensive test site of Chandipur Base in Odisha, India.
The missile destroyed a drone target.
According to local media reports, the missile was jointly developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization of India and the Israel Aerospace Industry Corporation.
It is 4.5 meters long and weighs about 2.7 tons and can carry 60 kilograms of nuclear warheads.
This is the first time that India has tested an army version of a medium-range surface-to-air ballistic missile.
In 2016, India test-fired three naval versions of medium-range surface-to-air ballistic missiles at the Chandipur Base Comprehensive Test Site.
