Trump blames China for responding to the hacker attack. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee refuted: There is no doubt that Russia did it.
After turning the “black” attack on the U.S. government website to China, Trump was publicly refuted.
According to Reuters, on the 20th December, Adam Schiff, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, said that there is no doubt that Russia is the “behind-the-scenes” of the recent hacker attack on the United States.
“Based on my understanding, I think that is no doubt Russia [does]. Schiff criticized in an interview with the U.S. media on the same day that Trump had previously questioned “Russian participation” and pointed the finger at China, which was a damage to the national security of the United States.
“For our national security… This is destructive, deceptive and harmful.” He said in reference to Trump’s previous remarks, the report said.
According to CNN, Republican Senator Romney also told the media on the 20th local time that Trump has a “blind spot” when things involve Russia.
On the 19th local time, Trump tweeted for the first time to comment on the widespread data leakage within the U.S. government. However, contrary to the statement of government officials, including Secretary of State Pompeo, he did not target Russia, but turned to China.
Reuters previously quoted White House sources as saying that White House officials have drafted and prepared to issue a statement that Russia is behind the massive cyber intrusion.
But then he was asked not to make this statement. Sources also did not specify who gave the order and why it was ordered.
Reuters also said that so far, more than six federal agencies have been affected by hacking, including the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Treasury Department. Trump’s claim that China may be behind the hacking is “contrary” to Pompeo’s and several lawmakers who know about it.
