December 19th local time, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, becoming the first person in Israel to be vaccinated.
According to the Times of Israel, Netanyahu said, “I asked to be the first vaccinated, and together with Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, to lead by example and call for everyone to be vaccinated.”
The doctor in charge of vaccination at the scene showed the vaccine in front of the camera and after many examinations, he was injected in Netanyahu’s right arm. Edelstein was also vaccinated after Netanyahu.
After the vaccination, Netanyahu said that he was not nervous and felt “good”, while calling on people to continue to abide by the epidemic prevention regulations and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
He also imitated the famous saying of American astronaut Armstrong when he landed on the moon (this is a small step for a person, but a big step for mankind) and said, “This is a small vaccination for individuals, but a big step for all of us to be healthy”.
According to previous reports, Israel has received the first batch of Pfizer coronavirus vaccines on the 9th.
Netanyahu has said the government is working on a “Green Pass” program, where people who have been vaccinated can prove it via a card or app and have free access to public places. According to Israeli media, as of the 19th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Israel reached 372,401, with a total of 3,070 deaths.
