Kampala, December 19 Ugandan President Museveni said on the 19th that Kiweginja, the country’s second deputy prime minister, died of the novel coronavirus.
On the same day, Museveni said at a campaign rally held in the western Ugandan city of Hoima that Kiweginja, who was receiving coronavirus treatment at the Murago Hospital in Kampala, died of his worsening condition.
He is deeply saddened.
Uganda’s Minister of Information and Information and Communication Technology Nabakuba said on social media that night that Kiweginja died in Murago Hospital on the 19th, after weeks he had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
Ugandan Prime Minister Rugunda said through social media that Kiweginja’s death was a huge loss for Uganda.
Kiwekinja was born in 1935 and is a senior politician in Uganda.
He has been involved in Uganda’s politics in the 1960s.
In 2016, he was appointed the second deputy prime minister and minister of East African affairs of Uganda.
Previously, he served as the third deputy prime minister and minister of the interior.
