December 18, local time, just a few hours before the federal government was forced to “close down”, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a two-day temporary spending bill by a vote of 320 to 60 to avoid a government shutdown.
At present, the two parties in the U.S. Congress have not reached a coronavirus relief plan that is included in the government spending agreement, although House Majority Leader Sterney Hoyer said that the vote may take place over the weekend.
But Senate Republican John Thune revealed that negotiations have so far made little progress.
