The International Sports Arbitration Tribunal announced its ruling on the dispute between Russia and the world anti-doping agency on the 17th. Russia will be banned for two years.
During the penalty period, Russia will be banned from participating in and holding large-scale events, including the Olympic Games and the World Championships. Russian athletes can only participate in a neutral capacity, and cannot raise the Russian flag and play the Russian national anthem.
In December 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced a four-year suspension of Russia for tampering with anti-doping laboratory data. Russia refused to accept the ruling of the World Anti-Doping Agency and then appealed to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
