On December 13, CNN quoted a person familiar with the matter as saying that after a dispute at a meeting last week, Trump proposed the possibility of firing U.S. Attorney General William Barr at a meeting on the 11th. However, Trump’s advisers all objected.
Barr said on December 1 that the U.S. Department of Justice had found no evidence of “election fraud” in the U.S. presidential election, and Barr refused to disclose the relevant findings of the Department of Justice against Hunter Biden, son, during the election, which aroused Trump’s dissatisfaction.
According to a person familiar with the situation told CNN that Trump proposed the possibility of firing Barr at a meeting on Friday (11th), but it is not clear whether he will fire Barr before the end of next month’s term.
Barr and Trump also had a “fighting out” last week, people familiar with the matter said.
Trump and Barr held a lengthy and “contentious” meeting last week in the West Wing office of the White House.
At the time, Trump was disappointed by Barr’s recent remarks that the Justice Department had not found evidence of widespread election fraud.
Trump told officials that he wanted to remove Barr seriously.
But people familiar with the matter said whether Trump would really do so is still a question. For the past few months, his advisers have encouraged him not to expel Barr in this way.
On Friday (11th), people familiar with the matter said that communication between the two was seriously interrupted and that the relationship was “in the cold war”.
Barr himself wants to survive until the end of Trump’s term.
According to sources familiar with the relationship between the two, Barr has decided that he will stay in office until the end of his term unless he thinks Trump will definitely fire him.
CNN said that it took Trump a lot of a year to blame him before firing former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, so it is not clear whether Trump’s anger at Barr will be expressed by immediate dismissal.
On the 12th, Trump tweeted and criticized the Supreme Court for refusing to accept his request to overturn the presidential election results. He tweeted that “If Biden enters the White House, Hunter and Biden have done nothing, because Barr will do nothing.”
Trump also retweeted a tweet that Barr should have been fired “that afternoon”, calling Barr’s performance “disappointing”.
Barr, who was once called Trump’s “close comrade-in-arms” by the Capitol Hill, supported Trump’s view that “mail-in ballot” fraud and possible “fraud” in the election before and after the election.
According to Reuters on September 2, Barr said that mail-in ballots in the U.S. election may be “difficult to prevent election fraud”.

A source familiar with the matter told CNN that Barr had tried to prevent the Federal Department of Justice’s investigation into the Hunt Biden tax issue from being made public before the November election, and Trump was “very angry” about the matter in a meeting with White House advisers last week.
