It is reported that the Ministry of Defense of Japan put forward a total request of about 550 million yen in the 2021 defense budget.
After relevant coordination with the Ministry of Finance, the following funds were approved:
Include relevant investigation fees to study and build two new Aegis ships; research and development funds related to the next generation of the Air Self-Defense Force F2 fighter models; space-related costs of “priority strengthening defense capabilities”, including the design cost of artificial satellites planned to be launched around 2026.
In view of this, the total defense expenditure in Japan’s 2021 budget is expected to be about 30 billion yen higher than this year, reaching about 5.34 trillion yen, which will increase for nine consecutive years, hitting a new high.
