December 11th – the U.S. military Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan reported 19 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, most of which were traced back to an evening dinner at the base.
According to the Star-Spangled Banner on the 11th, the base said that a total of 17 people were infected and 2 others were diagnosed after showing symptoms in contact tracing since the 8th. A large proportion of these local infections are from a dinner party at the base residence.”
“The scale of this activity should be limited to 10 people, social distancing, wearing masks, and especially indoors,” the base wrote on social media.
It is understood that 41 new cases have been reported at Yokosuka base since December, and a total of 34 patients are under observation. Since March, at least 186 people have been infected at the base.
