Paris, December 8 French President Macron said on the 8th that the next generation of French aircraft carriers will be built with nuclear power, starting in 2025 and put into use in 2038 to replace the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which is currently in service.
Macron went to the central and eastern French city of Le Crezo on the same day to inspect a factory in which the French nuclear power giant Famaton was located there.
He said that France’s strategic deterrent includes both nuclear submarines and nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, so the next generation of French aircraft carriers will continue to use nuclear power.
According to the information released by the French shipbuilding company Naval Group, the full displacement of the next generation of aircraft carriers is 75,000 tons, the length is about 300 meters, and it can carry 30 carrier-based aircraft, all indicators are better than the “De Gaulle” aircraft carrier.
Charles de Gaulle began service in 2001 and is the only nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in France, with a full load displacement of more than 40,000 tons.
