December 9th – Fukuoka City, Japan, announced on the 8th that pesticide residues were detected on artemisia supplied by an agricultural institution in Fukuoka Prefecture that exceeded the standard value by 180 times.
If eaten, it may cause stomach spasms, vomiting, etc., and is currently being recycled urgently from sales stores.
According to Japan’s Kyodo News Agency, at least four vegetable stores in Fukuoka sell “problem wormwood”. At present, the municipal government has not received reports of physical problems among citizens.
According to the municipal government, the standard value of this pesticide is 0.05ppm, but 9ppm was detected from Artemisia. People weighing 60 kilograms may cause stomach spasms if they eat 20 grams of artemisia, or have vomiting, incontinence, tears and other symptoms.
In severe cases, they may cause stomach spasms.
“Problem Artemisia” was sold in vegetable stores in Fukuoka on July and 8.
Japanese media have announced the words and store names on the packaging of Artemisia
reminding the public to pay attention and urging stores to recycle independently.
