New Delhi, December 7th – Police in the western state of Rajasthan, India, said on the 7th that there have been two consecutive traffic accidents in the state, causing at least 11 deaths and 12 injuries so far.
Indian media quoted police sources as saying that on the 7th, two car collisions occurred in Jiulu District, more than 200 kilometers northwest of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, killing six people and injuring two others. A traffic accident also occurred on the evening of the 6th in Dongge district, about 100 kilometers south of Jaipur. A van collided with a truck, killing 5 people and injuring 10, including four children. The injured have been sent to different hospitals for treatment, some of whom are seriously injured.
The report said that the local police have investigated the specific cause of the two traffic accidents.
Traffic accidents occur frequently in India due to bad road conditions and drivers’ speeding, overloading and other illegal operations. According to incomplete statistics, about 150,000 people die in traffic accidents every year in India.
