December 7th – A 48-year-old man in Italy hiked for a week after quarreling with his wife. During this time, he left Como in northern Italy and hiked 280 miles (about 450 kilometers) south. He was eventually punished by the police for failing to comply with the curfew during the epidemic.
According to Business Insider, at about 2 a.m. local time on December 6, police found the man in Fano, a resort along the Adriatic Sea while searching for violators. In questioning by the police, the man said that he walked about 40 miles a day to calm anger. The police were shocked by his walking distance. The police also confirmed that the man’s wife had received a report that her husband was missing.
Italy is implementing a lockdown policy, with curfews from 10pm to 5am. The police fined him 400 euros for violating the curfew and locked him in a hotel. Despite walking 280 miles, the man was not injured. He said, “I’m fine, but I’m a little tired.” He also revealed that strangers provided him with food and drinks during the journey.
