December 4th – On theĀ morning of Friday (4th), local time, Fauci confirmed that he had accepted the invitation to agree to serve as the new chief medical adviser of the U.S. government.
President-elect Biden said earlier that he had talked to Fauci and invited him to maintain his current position as the chief medical adviser and member of the coronavirus response team in the new government.
Fauci said in NBC News’ Today that he absolutely accepted and agreed to Biden’s proposal “on the spot”. At the same time, Fauci also said he supported Biden’s plan to require all Americans to wear masks in the first 100 days of administration.
In an interview with CNN on Thursday (3rd), Biden said that he had talked to Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and invited him to serve as the chief medical adviser and member of the coronavirus response team in the new government to maintain his current position.
In addition, Biden said he planned to require the public to wear masks for at least 100 days on the day of inauguration. It only takes 100 days to wear, not permanently. I think we will see a significant decrease in the number of coronavirus cases then.”
Since 1984, Fauci has been the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for 36 years. He has served in the U.S. government department for six times and enjoys a high reputation in the industry.
However, after the outbreak in the United States got out of control, the current president of the United States drifted away from him, repeatedly calling him a “disaster” and hinting at campaign rallies that Fauci might be fired.
At present, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States exceeds 14 million, and the cumulative number of deaths exceeds 275,000.
Fauci had predicted that the number of coronavirus infections in the United States would also surge with the winter and Christmas holidays.
