On the 3rd local time, the Peruvian Congress passed a vote of confidence in the Chairman (Prime Minister) of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) Bioletta Bemudes by 111 votes to 7, with 1 abstention. Before the vote, Bemudes focused on the main measures that the current government will take in response to the 2021 general election, combating the COVID-19 epidemic and promoting a comprehensive economic recovery.
Bemudes was sworn in on November 18. According to the Peruvian Constitution, the appointment of the new cabinet must be voted on confidence in the National Assembly before it can officially start its work.
Bemudes graduated from the Department of Legal and Political Sciences of the National University of San Marcos of Peru and received a master’s degree in constitutional science from the Catholic University of Peru. She is a lawyer and public policy expert.
