On November 28, local time, large-scale demonstrations broke out in many French cities, including the capital Paris, to oppose the “Comprehensive Security Law” bill proposed by the French government.
According to statistics from the French Ministry of the Interior, a total of 133,000 people from all over France participated in the parade that day. Among them, the capital Paris had about 46,000 people, which was the city with the largest number of participants.
On the same day, the Paris police dispatched 2,000 police forces to maintain order. As of that night, a total of 27 people were arrested and 23 policemen were injured. French Interior Minister Darmanin said that violence against law enforcement officials is unacceptable.
Earlier, the French National Assembly initially passed a controversial bill, the “Comprehensive Security Law”, which aims to restrict French citizens from taking and publishing photos and videos containing the faces of police officers on duty.
This move was considered to be an attempt to cover up evidence of police violent law enforcement and was strongly opposed.
