1 dead and 11 injured in collision between fishing boat and cargo ship in Japan
In the early morning of the 28th local time, a Japanese fishing boat collided with a freighter in the waters near Kashima Port in Ibaraki Prefecture, resulting in one death and 11 injuries.
According to Japanese media reports, at about 5:35 in the morning of the same day, the Maritime Security Headquarters of the Third District of Japan received a notification about a collision between a fishing vessel and a cargo vessel, and immediately dispatched patrol boats and helicopters to participate in the rescue.
According to the Kashima Maritime Security Agency, after the accident, all 12 crew members and passengers of the fishing boat fell into the water. One passenger died and the remaining 11 were injured to varying degrees. According to Japanese media reports, the freighter that collided with the fishing boat was from Hiroshima City, and its affiliated company stated that no one was injured.
Currently, the cause of the accident is under investigation.
