Inhabiting more than 4,000 feathers of wild swans in the region, two feathers and two feathers died. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the local emergency response mechanism was immediately activated, emergency response work was carried out, and the surrounding environment was disinfected. All the sick and dead swans had been treated harmlessly.
The Yellow River Wetland in Pinglu, Shanxi Province is one of the three wild big swans wintering habitats in China. More than 4,000 big swans come here to winter every year.
At about 8 a.m. on November 18, wetland patrols found two big swans who died for unknown reasons while patrolling the Yellow River Beach in the old city of Zhangcun Town. Professionals took anatomical samples and sent them to the Shanxi Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center for inspection and testing.
At 17:00 on November 19, in the sample sent for examination, it was found that the H5 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza virus nucleic acid was positive, which was confirmed to be a suspected H5 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic.
After the suspected outbreak of the epidemic, in order to ensure that the epidemic does not spread, effectively maintain the migratory bird population and public health safety, Pinglu County responded quickly, took multiple measures at the same time, divided the army into multiple routes, and actively responded.
The local government immediately arranged special personnel to be quarantined and disposed of the scene urgently. 50 protection warning signs were hung in the main habitat of the big swan, and more than 3,000 meters of warning lines were laid.
Immediately close the Three Bays Swan Scenic Area and prohibit tourists and unrelated personnel from entering migratory bird habitats and risk areas. The dead swans were treated harmlessly in time, and the scene of the scenic spot was blockaded and quarantined.
20 wetland patrolmen continue to increase patrol and monitoring, carry out all-weather patrol and monitoring along the Yellow River, pay close attention to the dynamics of big swans, and report them in time if there is any abnormality.
The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Development Center organized a special person to carry out a comprehensive investigation of poultry farms (households) with full coverage and no dead angles within 5 kilometers of yellow in Pinglu County from now on. A total of 66,685 poultry were screened and emergency immunized in a timely manner.
