Last week, there were more than 1.33 million new cases in the European region, accounting for the highest proportion of new cases in the world for the second consecutive week.

Nearly half of the new confirmed cases and nearly one-third of the new deaths in the world came from the European region.

In addition, the number of new cases in the Americas, Eastern Mediterranean, and Africa regions also increased last week, and the number of new confirmed cases and the number of new deaths in the Southeast Asia and Western Pacific regions decreased.
