February 5th, local time, the WHO held a regular COVID-19 press conference.
WHO Director-General Tedrost said that the number of coronavirus vaccinations worldwide has exceeded the total number of people infected with COVID-19, and it is good news that remarkable achievements have been achieved in such a short time.
Tedros also stressed that countries should give priority to vaccinating people who are most at risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19, such as the elderly and health workers.
But in some countries, it is unacceptable to say that “the death of the elderly is irrelevant”.
Every life is precious regardless of age, sex, income, legal status, race or any other factor.
