White House: In order to increase vaccination points, the coronavirus vaccine will be directly supplied to retail pharmacies

February 2nd local time, Jeff Zienz, the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, said at the White House coronavirus conference that in order to facilitate states and local governments to better manage and speed up vaccination, the U.S. government will distribute 10.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the United States this week.

In addition, in order to get a wider population vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible, the federal government plans to provide vaccines directly to pharmacies nationwide on February 11 to provide more vaccination sites for people.

Zientz said that about 1 million doses of vaccines were available at the beginning.

At present, about 6,500 pharmacies across the country are participating in the plan, and will be further expanded thereafter. In the end, about 40,000 pharmacies across the United States will be able to provide vaccination for the novel coronavirus vaccine.

While early availability was very limited, people at risk of serious illness and vulnerable groups should be given priority, and people should first ensure they are eligible for vaccination in their state and then check if appointments are available on the local pharmacy website, Zientz said.
